The sixth edition of the "Grande Staffetta, Obiettivo Tricolore" will be held from September 20th until October 8th 2026: 60 paralympic athletes will join the relay race. The competition will cover 1900 km around Italy and will include 22 legs in order to share the message and the memory of Alex Zanardi.
Obiettivo Tricolore is ready to make a fresh start in the loving memory of Alex Zanardi!
The aim of the sixth edition of Obiettivo Tricolore - the famous relay race conceived by Alex Zanardi right after 2020's lockdown - is wrapping Italian people in a warm, symbolic and comforting hug. The relay race is therefore ready to be back on the roads of the peninsula, cherising the memory of Alex Zanardi, a great champion and inspiring figure who passed away last May. This edition has also the purpose of sharing the everlasting message of social inclusion and promotion that sports usually hold, especially Zanardi's.
The great relay race will officially start on Monday, September 21st... Poppi, Siena, Montalcino (Wednesday, September 23rd) will be the legs in Tuscany.
Along the itinerary, Obiettivo Tricolore will stage many sport villages open to the public, where athletes and associations will have the chance to get to know and experience various paralympic activites... The villages will be present in Montalcino, at the Fortezza di Montalcino (SI).
